Ivan Dodig becomes ATP World Tour Masters 1000 doubles champion

Ivan Dodig and partner Marcelo Melo overcame a rain delay to beat Jamie Murray and Bruno Soares 6-4, 6-4 in one hour and nine minutes to lift the Rogers Cup last Sunday morning. The final was delayed after rain interrupted play and was completed later on the Grandstand court where Croatian, Dodig and Melo closed the duos third ATP World Tour Masters 1000 crown, building on success in Shanghai in 2013 and Paris in 2015.

In the final, Dodig and Melo won 77% of their first serves which amounted to an impressive 86% of points gained and dropped only five points throughout (31/36). Dodig and Melo did not face break point at any stage of the match but broke Murray and Soares twice.

Dodig earned 1000 Emirates ATP Doubles rankings points and sees the success as one of the most important titles of his career. Congratulations Ivan!
