ITALIAN TENNIS AND PADEL FEDERATION (FITP)
Italian Tennis and Padel Federation (FITP) is the governing body that promotes and organizes tennis, padel, beach tennis, and pickleball in Italy. With over 1.1 million members, it is currently the second largest sports federation in the country, just behind football, reflecting an unprecedented rise in popularity for these sports.
Originally founded in 1910 in Florence, the Federation has gone through several phases, changing its name from FILT to FIT in the 1930s and finally becoming FITP in 2023.
Italian tennis has experienced two major waves of modern glory. The first, between 2006 and 2015, saw the “Fab Four” dominate, winning 4 Fed Cups and historic Grand Slam titles such as the Roland Garros and the US Open. Today, Italy is experiencing the peak of its entire men’s tennis history, confirmed by three consecutive Davis Cup victories (2023, 2024, 2025) and recent women’s triumphs in the Billie Jean King Cup.
In addition to competitive play, FITP organizes some of the most prestigious tournaments on the world circuit, placing Italy at the center of the international stage:
- ATP Finals (Turin)
- Internazionali d’Italia (Rome)
A widespread network of facilities for developing young talent has ensured the successful generational renewal seen today.
