Joma moves forward in the elimination of plastic from its packaging

The Spanish company’s commitment in contributing to the sustainability of the planet has been reflected with several collections with the use of sustainable materials such as recycled polyester or organic cotton. Some examples are the use of this material in the collection of the Spanish Olympic Committee at the last Olympic Games in Tokyo or in the official shirts of teams such as TSG Hoffenheim of the Bundesliga or the Belgian RSC Anderlech.

Polybags, the bags used to protect each textile garment until it reaches the store or the end-consumer, are another of the company’s areas of activity. Joma has a process in place to replace traditional bags with biodegradable ones that decompose and are later transformed into nutrients, water and biomass. This way, a double function is fulfilled: plastic pollution is avoided while contributing to the improvement of mother-nature.

Joma has been national leader in sales of sports equipment for nine consecutive years and is globally in the top ten, which is why the replacement of this polluting material with another biodegradable one will mean the elimination of 40 million plastic bags in just one year.  Therefore, the Royal Spanish Futsal Federation, Villarreal CF or Italian teams Torino and Atalanta, among others, already contribute together with Joma to the sustainability of the planet.
