Linette restores hope as she goes through to the Australian Open semi-finals

The #JomaPlayer has delighted the tennis world by reaching the Australian Open semi-finals after defeating the Czech Karolina Pliskova.

Joma, as Linette’s official technical sponsor, and Polish tennis are celebrating. The unexpected heroine, Magda Linette has won a place at the Australian Open semi-finals after defeating Karolina Pliskova 6-3 and 7-5 in 87 minutes. She will be playing Belorussian, Aryna Sabaleka in what could be a historic game for her country and for herself.

As a #JomaPlayer, Linette had not progressed beyond the third round in her previous 29 Grand Slams, but after ten days of the tournament, she has reached the penultimate stage. She is the third Polish woman to have reached this far in the tournament, after Agnieszka Radwanska (2014 and 2016) and Swiatek (2022). In fact, although she is ranked 49th in the world with this victory, she has guaranteed herself a place within the top 25 in the world.

“I won’t ever forget this. It’s the first time in my life (I’ve achieved it) after going through some difficult times. It is something that will stay with me forever. I am extremely grateful and happy”, Linette said at the end of the game. As for Joma, it will never forget this historic result, both for her and the course of Polish women’s tennis. The brand will continue to proudly support Linette at the next semi-finals game.

Joma at the Australian Open

Magda Linette has made history wearing the Joma kit. She is not the only participant at the Australian Open to be sponsored by Joma. Leading national and international tennis players such as Pablo Carreño, Thiago Monteiro and Beatriz Haddad are wearing Joma at the first Grand Slam of the 2023 season.

As a result, it reflects Joma’s unstoppable growth in tennis, whose players occupy the top ranks of tournaments of such stature as the one being competed in today.
