Spain’s Lionesses become the European champions for the tenth time.

Spain’s Lionesses #JomaTeam have won the European Championships for the tenth time in their history, and for the sixth consecutive time after beating Sweden.

Spanish women’s rugby is celebrating after The Lionesses #JomaTeam proclaimed their victory in the European Championships for the tenth time. After defeating Sweden by 90-5, Spain defended their position and title as the most prize-winning women’s team in Spanish history.

In fact, It’s not the first time that Spain’s Lionesses have reached the final in this tournament. Since 2013, Spain has been notching up one triumph after another by winning six consecutive championships (they didn’t take part in 2014 and 2015, and the championships were not held in 2017).

The ultimate battle in European rugby took place at the El Pantano Stadium in Vila Joiosa. The difference between the teams was notable from the start; Spain was clearly superior, as the team didn’t give Sweden any opportunities to match the pace set by The Lionesses.  This time, Spain’s attack tactics shot up to 14 tries. Zahía Pérez, Maider Aresti, Claudia Pérez, Alba Vinuesa, Vico Gorrochategui, Lucía Gayoso, Cecilia Huarte and Alba Alpín came together at the free line-out, many of them on several occasions.

Joma accompanied Spain’s Lionesses right to the end

Finally, when the final whistle was blown, the euphoria was unleashed among the players, the technical team and the supporters. As the Lionesses’ proud official technical sponsor, Joma could not miss this event. The sports brand witnessed the #JomaTeam’s tenth win. Their sponsor’s commitment has accompanied them in every step they have taken to reach the top. It will continue to accompany them towards their eleventh win and will provide them with their best technical rugby products to make everything easier.
