RS-9000: six special editions for high-speed racing at upcoming marathons

Joma brings its ultralight competition model, tested in the J Lab, to its upcoming marathons.

The RS-9000 arrives at Joma-sponsored races and marathons as the brand’s ultralight model for the 2026 editions. Weighing just 126 grams, it is designed for technically proficient runners seeking efficiency, responsiveness and control as the pace increases.

The new special editions have been personalised for this autumn’s events: 20K de Paris, Venice Marathon, Behobia-San Sebastián, Maratona do Porto, Firenze Marathon and Maratón de Marrakech.

What does 126 grams mean for each shoe?

This figure lies at the heart of the campaign, translating the weight of each special edition into less technical language. Comparing the shoes with some of each city’s most recognisable icons makes it easier to understand just how light they are.

At the Behobia-San Sebastián, for example, six gilda pintxos are enough to balance the scales. The Paris RS-9000 weighs the same as two croissants, while the Venice model matches the weight of a Venetian mask.

Six races, six designs

The collection adapts colours, prints and symbols to each destination:

  • 20K Paris: a dynamic print inspired by the colours and movement of the race.
  • Venice Marathon: blue tones and water-inspired motifs that evoke the city’s canals.
  • Behobia-San Sebastián: a combination of red, orange, green and blue connected to the energy of the race.
  • Maratona do Porto: blue and white inspired by traditional Portuguese tiles.
  • Firenze Marathon: a red and white reinterpretation of the Florentine lily.
  • Marrakech Marathon: the event’s signature colours combined with tones associated with the city.

The technology behind the RS-9000

The RS-9000 has been developed to reduce weight without compromising the performance required for high-speed racing. Its performance has been tested in the J Lab under extreme physical demands.

The minimalist upper uses nylon yarn reinforced with polyamide to support a close fit, breathability and moisture management. The midsole has an 8 mm drop and incorporates Light Reactive, made with special injected Pebax to combine responsiveness and impact absorption.

This technology works alongside the internal Carbon Plate, which supports more efficient energy transfer and provides stability. Underfoot, the CPU outsole is concentrated in the areas with the greatest contact with the road, providing traction and wear resistance while keeping the overall weight down.
