Joma launches a new edition of Porto Marathon 2022, its high-end running shoe with the evolution of STABILIS technology.
The official STORM VIPER MARATHON OPORTO MARATHON shoe has undergone a total design renovation maintaining the latest innovation in technology. The new version continues with the radical change in favor of increasing stability and comfort.
The Porto Marathon returns to the streets of the Portuguese city, and so does the exclusive personalized official shoe. The new edition of the official Porto Marathon shoe is, more than ever, a tribute to the city and the sports event.
The design, a nod to local craftsmanship
The color combination adds a striking and innovative touch to the sneakers. On one hand, the tongue and laces are made in orange, while the upper is red. While you can see drawings from Portuguese culture that run along the entire upper, giving rise to a very elegant design. These figures are inspired by the typical ceramics of the city and are a nod to the craftsmanship of the area.
On the other hand, the sole is blue, with the name of the city embedded on one of the sides. It is not the only place where it stands out, since the entire inside of the shoe includes the union of both parts: the city and Joma.
Technical characteristics
Its mid-sole follows the renovation of the previous edition, designed to maintain the same reactivity while increasing stability through three important modifications: the incorporation of the STABILIS SYSTEM in the heel, a larger base for impact entry and a wider sole.
The STABILIS SYSTEM is applied by means of a greater rigid piece injected in the heel containing the movement of the foot on entry and providing greater stability to the foot-step. This stiffness improves the runner’s performance as the foot does not have to be secured before impact. This increases the protection of the joints, avoiding injuries.
Stability is reinforced with a much wider mid-sole and a straight heel shape that increases the base of the foot-step.
Improved stability is aided by an internal toe cap reinforcement. Thus, the runner will feel the security of the new Storm Viper in all phases of the foot-step.
Another change is comfort, thanks to a revamped upper with more flexibility and more VTS ventilation. Likewise, the tongue support with two elastic bands keeps it in place during the race; and the reduction of rubber in the sole reducing the weight of this part. Low-abrasion DURABILITY technology continues to be used to extend the life of the shoe.
Storm Viper is a shoe aimed at runners with a pace above four seconds, in training sessions of 4 to 6 days and competitions of medium and long distance. It has a DROP 8, another of the new features inherited from its predecessor.
