Zamalek SC has beaten its rival Al-Ahly 3-1 on penalties in the Egyptian Super Cup, which was held at Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium in the United Arab Emirates’ (UAE) capital of Abu Dhabi.
Goalkeeper Mahmoud Gennesh proved to be Zamalek’s hero in a shootout as the team defeated Ahly 3-1 on penalties. Gennesh saved two penalties in the shootout after a dour 0-0 draw against Ahly.
This is the third Super Cup trophy for Zamalek.
Joma, as the official technical sponsor, designed a special shirt for this match with which the Zamalek is placed at the top of football in Egypt.
