Ivan Dodig wins his first ATP 500 title after winning together with Austin Krajicek in the Basel doubles final.
Tennis player Ivan Dodig, whose official sponsor is Joma, won the doubles final of the ATP 500 tournament in Basel (Switzerland). Together with the American Austin Krajicek, he managed to lift the cup after an hour and forty-two minute match, and a result of 6-4 and 7(7)-6(5). Both becoming champions after defeating French Nicolas Mahut and Edouard Roger-Vasselin.
The Basel ATP was played from October 22nd to October 30th on an indoor hard court. During the competition Dodig had been stringing together victories until qualifying for the doubles semifinal, then for the final and finally proclaiming himself as champion in this discipline. The Croatian JomaPlayer is currently ranked number 13 in the ATP world rankings, a position that borders the top ten.
In addition, he is one of the most recognized Joma-sponsored tennis players in the world. The maturity of his technique has made it possible for him to accumulate victories, including the current one at the ATP Basel. This is the first time he has reached the top of this tournament, until now he had only been a finalist. However, he already had another ATP 250 title in 2011 in Zagreb.
Even so, Dodig accumulated victories in three of the four official tournaments that make up the Grand Slam: at the Australian Open, at Wimbeldon and at Roland Garros. He also won the silver medal in men’s doubles at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
