First Ibiza Marathon success

The very first Ibiza Marathon took place during the weekend (8 and 9 April) with registrations surpassing the 700 mark while the 12K race attracted more than 1,200 participants. As technical sponsor, Joma were delighted to see runners from many countries descend upon the island for such a popular event.

The Ibiza Marathon record was set by Kenyan runner, Stephen Kiplimo who was first to cross the line in just 02:19:01. In the female race, fellow Kenyan, Sally Jemutai Kimaiyo completed the course in 02:52:50.

In the 12K race, the winner was Anass Bourass, a young Moroccan who finished in 00:39:20 while Italian, Ilaria Tersigni won the ladies race by finishing in 00:49:08.

The inaugural Ibiza Marathon proved to be a hugely popular event for runners from all over Europe as well as organisers and marshals.
