Joma Trail Team leads Ultra Pirineu 2026 with three wins

Joma Trail Team leads Ultra Pirineu 2026 with three wins

Three wins from four podium finishes confirm that Joma’s leading role in the Pyrenees was no coincidence. It came from athlete performance and equipment built for competition.

The Joma Trail Team finished Ultra Pirineu as one of the standout teams of the 2026 edition. Wins from Gemma Arenas, Julen Calvó and Moana Kehres, together with Inés Astrain’s third place, showed the depth of a team capable of racing at the front across long-distance events and in both the men’s and women’s fields.

The athletes’ performances and the product’s response under race conditions underpinned this collective display. In the Ultra and Marathon, Joma equipment supported the team over courses with different demands, always serving the needs of each athlete.

In an edition shaped by the weather and the technical difficulty of the terrain, Joma’s trail running equipment had to prove its performance in real competition. Performance stopped being a promise and was measured kilometre by kilometre as part of a result earned as a team.

Joma takes both titles in the Ultra Pirineu 60K

The Ultra was held over an alternative course of approximately 60 kilometres due to the risk of severe storms. Faced with this new scenario, the Joma Trail Team delivered in both fields as Julen Calvó and Gemma Arenas claimed the men’s and women’s victories.

The double win was backed by a strong performance from the rest of the team. Miguel Heras finished eighth on his return to competition, Claudio Díaz placed tenth and Toni Baños completed the race in 19th position.

Five Joma athletes reached the finish, with four placing inside the top 10 of their respective standings. This depth turned the two victories into a genuine team performance.

Moana Kehres and Inés Astrain reach the Marathon podium

Joma remained at the front in the Marathon. Moana Kehres took the win, while Inés Astrain finished third, placing two Joma Trail Team athletes on the women’s podium. In the men’s race, Pablo Bautista finished 11th, just outside the top 10.

Natalia González and Mario Mirabel were unable to finish the race. The entire Joma team sends them its support and recognises the work they put in to arrive ready for such a demanding event.

The weather prevented the full planned line-up from competing. Mónica Vega, Ainara Uribarri and Pere Menéndez were unable to race in the Half Marathon, while Gisela Carrión could not start the Vertical Kilometre. Both events were cancelled due to weather warnings for heavy rain and the risk of storms in Catalonia.

TR-6: carbon plate and Joma Grip in competition

All four Joma athletes who reached the podium raced in the TR-6 trail running shoes, the brand’s ultra-distance model featuring a carbon plate and the new Joma Grip compound.

The TR-6 uses a reinforced yet lightweight technical mesh upper with VTS to support ventilation and sweat evacuation. Its midsole combines Fly Reactive, engineered to maximise energy return and help reduce fatigue, with a trail-specific Carbon Plate that provides a flexible and stable response.

Underfoot, the Joma Grip compound improves traction over highly technical terrain. Ultra Pirineu put these capabilities to the test in competition with different athlete profiles, from the Ultra to the Marathon.
