Spain surpasses its medal count of Tokyo 2020 and Rio 2016

Spanish athletes won 18 medals: five gold, four silver, and nine bronze. One more medal than in Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020. This has led them to position themselves in 15th place in the overall table. Judoka Fran Garrigós opened the medal tally for our country, the first moment where an athlete could be seen stepping onto the podium in a Joma uniform for the COE.

In addition, Joma has also sponsored the Olympic Committee of Portugal, whose participants have achieved 1 gold, 2 silver, and 1 bronze (4 medals). In addition to this, we must add the medals obtained by the delegations dressed by the brand, which have added 3 gold, 8 silver, and 12 bronze medals to the final count among Jordan, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Moldova, Guatemala, Kazakhstan, and Armenia.

Victories defining history

Among the most notable moments of these Games is the victory of Czech player Tomáš Macháč in mixed doubles. The #JomaPlayer clinched the gold making history in his country’s tennis by forming the first team to achieve this triumph. In the same discipline, Sara Sorribes won bronze in doubles, overcoming her slow start and leaving a mark on Spanish tennis.

Spain‘s milestone in race walking with  gold medals of Álvaro Martín and María Pérez, crossing the finish line wearing the brand’s uniform. With Morocco, Soufiane El Bakkali became champion wearing the J on his uniform.

On the other hand, Los Hispanos handball team finished this great tournament by stepping third on the podium. A medal that Joma player Miguel Sánchez-Migallón also hung on his neck.

And to top it off, Ilaria Spirito and Carlotta Cambi clinched their victory with the Italian team, a triumph that has marked a before and after in Italian volleyball.
