Sara Sorribes, champion at the Mutua Madrid Open 2024

Sara Sorribes reached the title of doubles champion at the Mutua Madrid Open. Due to an injury to her usual partner, Marie Bouzkova, she played with Cristina Bucsa and achieved the most important victory of her career in this category. The Spanish pair has been the first to win the tournament, making their mark on the honor roll.

The match lasted 1 hour and 14 minutes in which they defeated the duo of Barbora Krejcikova and Laura Siegemund (6-0 and 6-2). The pair had a strong start and won seven games in a row. Sara Sorribes already has four doubles titles in her record, and now adds one more in the 1000 category.

Marcel Granollers, number 1 in doubles in the ATP Tour world ranking

Marcel Granollers made history just a few days earlier by positioning himself as the new world number 1 in doubles. Qualifying for the Mutua Madrid Open semifinals elevated him as the second Spanish player to top the ATP Tour ranking. His victory alongside Horacio Ceballos over the Monegasque Hugo Nys and the Pole Jan Zielinzki by 4-6, 6-2, and 16-14 marked the peak in this specialty.

The #JomaPlayer has won 25 doubles titles in 54 finals. His greatest success, in addition to participating in the Spanish Davis Cup team, was winning the Masters in London in 2012. In addition, he has played in five Grand Slam finals and has won eight titles, including the Madrid title in 2021.
