Joma was present at one of trail running’s major events with athletes competing in the marathon and Vertical Kilometer, providing the perfect setting to put Joma Grip to the test.
The athletes from the Joma Trail Team once again gave their all at one of the most iconic and demanding races in the world of trail running: Zegama-Aizkorri. On a course defined by tough terrain and highly challenging conditions, Joma was represented by five elite athletes in the marathon and Vertical Kilometer races.
In the Zegama-Aizkorri Marathon, covering 42.195 kilometres with 2,730 metres of positive elevation gain, the following athletes competed:
- Raúl Ortiz
- Ainara Uribarri
- Natalia González
- Mario Mirabel
The brand’s representation was completed in the Vertical Kilometer race by Esteban Herreros.
Joma Grip tested in extreme conditions
This year’s edition once again confronted runners with the conditions that make Zegama so recognisable: mud, fog, snow and high mountain terrain, all of which increased the demands of the competition even further. In a race like this, performance does not depend solely on physical condition. The ability of the product to respond safely and reliably on irregular and constantly changing surfaces also becomes crucial.
In this context, the presence of Joma’s elite team offered a clear showcase for the brand’s new outsole compound applied across the entire TR competition line: Joma Grip. The athletes tested this innovation, developed to provide enhanced grip on uneven terrain and deliver a safer, more stable response.
Throughout the competition, the five athletes brought this technology into a real environment of maximum difficulty. An especially valuable test for a compound specifically designed to improve traction and confidence on technical terrain. More than a theoretical promise, its presence there helped position the product where it is truly validated: in competition.
Competing in the world’s most prestigious mountain marathon
Being at Zegama-Aizkorri with its own athletes and with Joma Grip in action allowed Joma to place its trail running proposal in a context of maximum demand. Mud, snow, fog and high mountain terrain turned the race into an especially valuable setting to test product performance where grip and confidence in every stride make all the difference.
