Atlético Baleares SAD sports club
Atlético Baleares SAD sports club is a professional Spanish football team. It was founded in 1942 after the merger of Club Deportivo Atlético and Club de Fútbol Baleares and is based in Palma de Mallorca (Balearic Islands). The Mallorcan club is known as Los Blanquiazules and for years they competed in the youth categories. It made its first debut in the Second Division in the 1950s and remained there for two seasons (1951-1952 and 1952-1953) until it was relegated again. In the 1960-1961 season it was champion of the Third Division, letting the club returned to the Second Division where it remained for two more seasons (1961-1962 and 1962-1963). Nowadays and since the arrival of the German businessman Ingo Volckmann in 2014, the economic stability of the club (currently SAD) has been solid, unlike previous times. Under the control of the new owner, Atlético Baleares achieved three promotions to the Second Division in the last four years (2016-2017, 2018-2019 and 2019-2020). Today, the club is one of the references in its category and sooner rather than later, promotion to the Second Division will be achieved.
