Académico de Viseu is a leading sports institution based in the city of Viseu, Portugal, and founded on June 7, 1914. Recognized as one of the historic clubs in national football, Académico’s track record includes three promotions to the First Division (1978, 1980, 1988) and four seasons in the competition, cementing its relevance in the Portuguese sports scene.
In 2006, faced with structural challenges, the project underwent a restructuring process, returning to participate in district competitions. This process culminated in the 2012/2013 season with its return to professional football by achieving promotion to the current Segunda Liga. Since then, Académico de Viseu has prided itself on being the club with the most consecutive seasons in this division, standing out for its consistency and professionalism.
The current Académico de Viseu Futebol Clube, Futebol SAD has managed the institution’s operations since 2021, driven by its main team, which currently competes in Liga Portugal 2.
