The Italian Athletics Federation (FIDAL)

The Italian Athletics Federation (FIDAL) is the reference body for the practice of the discipline in Italy, democratically constituted by the representatives of the sports associations affiliated to it. Among the various tasks that fall to the Italian Athletics Federation are those relating to the composition of the Italian national teams that take part in international events at all levels (for the Olympic Games, in agreement with CONI), and the organisation of national championships, both individual and club, for all membership categories.

But not only this, of course. The imprint on the national social fabric is given by the countless relationships operated on the territory by the affiliated clubs (there are more than 2,800 clubs that are part of the Federation, with just under 300,000 registered athletes, coaches, managers, judges), by the relationships of coaches and managers with athletes of all ages, by the participation of the latter in the thousands of events included in the FIDAL calendar every year. A vast panorama, encompassing top and grassroots activities, the very high competitive profile and that of supporting the development of young people and the protection of the health of adults, in a unicum that is, above all, the sum of the many passions for athletics that are kindled daily in Italy. Around values such as loyalty, respect for oneself, for the rules of competition and for the opponent.

The history of the Italian Athletics Federation is also the history of the great champions who have worn the blue jersey at the Olympic Games, at the World Championships, at the European Championships, and on all the occasions when an Italian representative team has challenged that of other countries.
