The current Czech Athletic Association was established in 1993 after the dissolution of Czechoslovakia. However, the history of organised athletics on our territory is much older and dates back to 1897, when the Czech Amateur Athletic Union was founded during the Austro-Hungarian Empire.

For more than a century, Czech athletes regularly left their mark on the history of sport. They collected Olympic laurels, became world and European champions, pushed the limits of human possibilities. Several of them are still world record holders today. The Czech athletics team consistently ranks among the best in Europe.
