FORTITUDO BOLOGNA
Fortitudo Pallacanestro Bologna 103, commonly known as Fortitudo Bologna or simply the “Effe”, is a historic basketball club based in Bologna. Its roots date back to 1932, when it was founded within the Società Ginnastica Fortitudo. The current club, re-established in 2013, inherited the legacy and prestigious honours of the original Fortitudo, maintaining the historic affiliation code 00103, which is reflected in the name Fortitudo Bologna 103.
Fortitudo has played a key role in making Bologna one of the historical capitals of Italian basketball, a context famously known as “Basket City”, and is part of one of the most intense rivalries in the national game. After a bankruptcy in 2012, the club was refounded, demonstrating great resilience and the strength of its tradition, returning to compete at high levels and reclaiming a place in the top division (Serie A).
