Joma Sport Celebrates Historic Elite London Marathon Debut with Weynay Ghebresilasie

Weynay Ghebresilasie finished the London Marathon with an excellent time of 2:11:21 and positioning himself among the top three British runners.

Joma Sport proudly announces a landmark moment as Weynay Ghebresilasie, competing under the Joma banner, delivered a stellar performance in the Elite Field at yesterday’s prestigious London Marathon. This event marked Joma’s debut appearance in the London Marathon Elite Field – a significant milestone for the brand – and Ghebresilasie rose to the occasion with an outstanding top-15 finish.

Competing against some of the world’s finest distance runners, Weynay crossed the line just behind Olympic gold medallist Alex Yee, underlining his place among the elite. His performance secured him a podium spot as one of the top three British finishers and crowned him the 2025 Scottish Marathon Champion – a particularly proud achievement as Joma Sport serves as the official technical sponsor of Scottish Athletics.

Throughout the race, Weynay was proudly outfitted in Joma running apparel and the latest performance footwear. He raced in the newly renovated R-5000 model, a specialist competition shoe featuring a cutting-edge CARBON PLATE – designed for professional athletes.

Weynay completed the marathon in a superb time of 2:11:21, reinforcing his reputation as one of Britain’s leading distance runners and marking a significant achievement for both athlete and brand.

“We are incredibly proud of Weynay’s performance and what it represents for Joma Sport,” said Marina López, Managing Director of Joma Sport. “To debut on the elite stage at the London Marathon and achieve such success is a testament not only to Weynay’s talent and hard work but also to Joma’s commitment to supporting athletes at the highest level.”

Weynay’s success at London exemplifies the brand’s growing presence and ambition within global athletics, particularly in the UK market. As Joma Sport continues its partnership with Scottish Athletics, supporting elite and grassroots runners alike, this moment signals the beginning of a bold new chapter.
