VENICEMARATHON
Venicemarathon is a prestigious international road race founded in 1986. It takes place annually in October (usually on the fourth Sunday) over the classic marathon distance of 42.195 km.
What makes the Venicemarathon renowned worldwide is its spectacular course and unique finish:
- Start: The race begins in Stra, in the province of Padua, known for the magnificent Villa Pisani.
- Course: The route winds along the stunning Riviera del Brenta, an area rich in historic Palladian villas offering breathtaking scenery.
- Finish in Venice: After passing through Mestre and San Giuliano Park, runners cross the Ponte della Libertà leading into Venice. The city finish is unparalleled, with athletes crossing several bridges and, notably, the Grand Canal on a specially constructed floating bridge, with the final finish line at Riva dei Sette Martiri.
The Venicemarathon was the first Italian marathon to receive recognition from AIMS (Association of International Marathons and Distance Races) and is consistently included in the IAAF international calendar.
