BIELLA RUGBY CLUB
Biella Rugby Club is an Italian rugby union club based in Biella. Founded in 1977, it represents the highest level of rugby in the Piedmont region and has recently reached the top of the national pyramid. The club was established by a group of enthusiasts who affiliated with the Italian Rugby Federation (FIR) in July 1977. Already in June 1978, the team won its first trophy, the Coppa del Piemonte.
After spending its first twenty years in the lower divisions, the team began a steady rise in the new millennium, earning promotion to Serie B in 2008 and establishing itself in Serie A (the second division) during the 2010s. The most significant moment in the club’s history came in the 2024-2025 season, when Biella Rugby achieved its first-ever promotion to Serie A Élite, the top division of Italian rugby union.
Biella Rugby’s distinctive colors are yellow and green, which dominate the team’s playing kit. The club’s iconic symbol is the bear, a heraldic animal also featured in the city of Biella’s coat of arms. For this reason, the first team’s players are affectionately known as the “Bears”.
