
The Slovak Tennis Association
The Slovak Tennis Association is celebrating 30 years of independence this year. In this relatively short history, Slovak tennis players achieved a number of impressive successes on the international scene. Its current president is the 1988 Seoul Olympic champion Miloslav Mecir.
The biggest achievements of Slovak national teams are the victory in the Fed Cup 2002, the Davis Cup final in 2005 and three triumphs in the Hopman Cup. Among the individual results it is Cibulkova´s title of world champion in 2016.
In the era of independence, Slovak tennis players won 13 Grand Slam titles - 4 Daniela Hantuchova in mixed doubles, 1 Filip Polasek in men´s doubles, 8 juniors in singles and doubles. The best singles Grand Slam results in singles were achieved by Dominika Cibulkova (Australian Open final and Roland Garros semifinal), Karol Kucera and Daniela Hantuchova (Australian Open semifinal) and Dominik Hrbaty (Roland Garros semifinal).
