It was founded in 1903 as Associazione Calcio Hellas and in 1929 debuted in the national top flight. Hellas' corporate colours, blue and yellow, are the same as those of the city's coat of arms, while its coat of arms is a stylised version of the imperial double-headed eagle and the staircase representing the Scaligeri family, rulers of Verona between the 13th and 14th centuries
